Nest Aware Gen 1 Credit Card Update

I cannot seem to provide an updated credit card for my Nest Aware subscription.

I have a Nest Aware (Gen 1) subscription for my Nest Hello (doorbell camera). It automatically charges my credit card annually. I have merged my Google and Nest accounts (in the past). But that has not affected my annual Nest Aware subscription (at least to date). Next year on my Nest Aware renewal date, however, I will have to provide new credit card information as my current card was renewed with new expiry date etc. I can (and did) update my credit card information on my Google account, but I cannot seem to do it for my Nest Aware Gen 1 subscription. My Google account says I have no subscription. But I do have a Nest Aware subscription (I guess through Nest only). Google Nest Help Desk says I must go to a Nest Aware (Gen 2) subscription. But I would just like to update my credit card information and keep things just as they are.

Any advice or experience from others who have gone through this would be appreciated. I have a few months yet to get it sorted out. Thank you in advance.

What I found out was, if you chose for their newer nest aware plan, it will be handling via pay.google.com site and everything will be fine. If you're sticking around with your old plan for whatever reason, the payment info wasn't sync between store.nest.com and pay.google.com that well.

While you're at the screen showing your subscriptions , click on the Account icon on top right of the screen > Settings > Under Account Summary, , scroll down to the last section where it says "Payment methods" > click Manage Payments, from there you can Add and Delete payment method. still can't Edit existing card though.

To avoid risking the system changing my existing subscribed plan, I did the unnecessary long way but I'm sure this work 'cos end up the system charged the correct card in the following midnight.

I added a new credit card (call it Card B) in the Manage Payment screen, go back to the subscription section and select to pay with the Card B, go back to the Manage Payments screen, delete the expired Card A, add Card A back with the newer expiry date, go to subscription and select Card A, and finally remove Card B in the Manage Payment screen.

it's dumb, but I only have to do this once every 4~5 years when the card expired again, so, the next time around the whole system will probably changed already.
ps. do not add Card A with new expiry date ahead of time, you'll confused because the site don't show expiry date, so end up you see two card A showing and can't tell which is which.

@xenz

I've found the Nest Aware subscription payment site to be clumsy, awkward, and primitive.

Thanks xenz.

I found that on my laptop (not in the Nest app), going to home.nest.com (not store.nest.com, because that will now automatically reroute you to the store.google.com site), then going to settings, products, and select the camera which has the Nest Aware Gen 1 subscription, then clicking on Nest Aware, manage subscription, gets you to store.nest.com (without a forced transfer to google). There it says my xx card will be automatically charged on date yy. From there it allows me to manage my credit card (add but not edit).

And as xenz added in his "ps" section of his note above, you have to be very careful as you add your new card data and say use this to pay, when it goes back to the list it has it listed, but without the expiry date showing, so you are not sure it has the right one (old one or new one).

But I believe that when I add the new card, and its new expiry date and code and select to use that card for payments, and then save it, it comes back to the list of my card with the correct card checked off in the list (of 3) to be used going forward. (I added it twice this way, just to be sure.)

This is all a bit too cumbersome, but I hope that other users in this situation can see this so they can know how to do it in future.

Thanks all!

for other users:
I follow Ontario1 way of navigation start from home.nest.com, it gets to the page where it show my Gen 1 subscription. and it is from that screen and start following my way of navigation above, will reach to the Manage Payments screen, where you have an extra option to Delete credit card.

ps. for Canadian users, remember to switch to Canada, otherwise you won't see your credit card information.
