Most but not all Nest products do appear in the Home app. Nest Protect and Nest Tag only appear in the Nest app.

I've got the smoke detectors.

That process can't be used to link Nest products. Once a Nest product is setup in the Nest app, it will automatically appear in the Home app, if you use the same account in both apps (unless it is Nest Protect or Nest Tag).

why is the nest protect unable to appear on the google home app? can you add Nest protect to the google home app, if so how?

Hi folks,
Thanks for reaching out and posting here in the community. As of now Nest Protect can't be installed to the Google Home app and it can't be connected to a 5GHz Wifi network.
I would suggest that you send feedback by following this link. Let me know if you have other questions or concerns, otherwise I’ll be locking this thread after 24 hours.
Thanks,
Emerson

Hi Rob567,
While I can't speak to the reasons why certain features might be included or removed from a product line, I can reassure you that your voice is heard when you submit feedback and we pass your comments along as a feature request. We have made sure our teams have seen your request and comments, and they are always taken into account on future hardware and software updates. Aside from the feedback, is there any other way I can help?
Best,
Emerson

Yes there is, can you directly answer my question, will Google/nest protect be available in Google home in the future?

Hey all,
Rest assured that we'll take note of it — we'll ensure that we'll learn from your experience as we continually improve our products and services.
As Community Specialists, we occasionally do a bit of housekeeping to keep the conversations in our community fresh and relevant. You can create a new thread if you have another question in mind, we're always here for you.
Thanks for the help, Emerson.
Best,

The easy way to get a thread closed is to ANSWER THE QUESTIONS. "Oh we hear you and take your feedback." In response to everyone here is the opposite of being heard. The entire Google support team just pretends we never ask certain questions.
So lets just go on and bump this one to the top again.

Your response basically adds fuel to the fire making your customers feel unheard. "Oh we lOvE Your feedback!" As you throw it into a blast furnace never to be seen again. Then dodging why theres false claims on the product marketing.

Do not lock this thread without an answer to deceptive marketing practices.

Nest Protects will never appear in Google Home. They claim someone's been working on it, but it's been years. It's not happening.
