Batteries die constantly in Wired nest protect

I have 3 wired nest protect devices that have been working and installed since I purchased the property mid 2019 - the original upstairs unit was expiring so the first generation unit was changed for a new second generation unit.

I installed the new power connector that was received as it was different from the first generation and installed the lithium batteries to the unit and installed on the ceiling as instructed.

The green power light remains on the whole time, however the batteries i install are dead within a week. I have tried replacing the batteries multiple times as well as re-terminating the connections on the end of the power lead - but the batteries are giving warning alarms within a week.

I tried phoning google support but not meaning to be rude - the lady from the Philippines could not understand the fact i am using mains supply voltage but the batteries keep dying. She kept consulting a "technician" i was unable to speak with and kept saying that as my unit is wired i must use that power source not the batteries - which is exactly what i am doing. I banged my head against a wall with her for 90 minutes and got nowhere.

I put new batteries in on 29/08/21 and now on 02/09/21 I have received my first low power warning - the green mains light has been on all the time and there is no supply voltage issue.

Hey there,

Sorry for the late response, but I wanted to drop in here to help.

I understand that power and battery issues can be confusing and frustrating but I definitely wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Just wanted to double check to see if you were still needing help on this? If so, what troubleshooting steps have you tried?

Please let me know.

Best regards,

Garrett DS
