Compatible with existing smoke detectors?

Can I use the hardwired CO/Smoke detector with my existing hardwired smoke detectors?

In the past I have had issues of one brand of smoke detector not being compatible with a different brand (hardwired). The alarm would sound as soon as the different smoke detectors were connected.

You can but they won't communicate with each other. If the alarm sounds on one, it won't sound the alarm on the other unless both detect the emergency.
