Hello,
We have three Google Nest Protects throughout our building, none of which were able to successfully connect to our Google Home (despite being able to connect multiple other Google Home devices). We tried everything for multiple days in a row and after a lot of internet searching, it turns out that these Protect detectors simply do not work with our Internet set-up. As we are under contract for our internet, and it would be a huge ordeal to switch providers simply to be able to integrate our Google Nest Protects into our Google Home set-up, we just decided to use them as very expensive Smoke/CO2 detectors as we had already installed them.
Now, 7 months after installation, the sensor has failed on one of our Google Nest Protects. I followed the cleaning instructions and changed the batteries and it is still emitting a loud chirp.
As we weren't able to integrate it into our Google Home, it doesn't show up when I search for warranty information for our products.
This whole experience with these products has been an expensive and very frustrating one, especially now that one of our units appears to be unusable after only 7 months.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi GolspieDairy,
Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. We know where you're coming from and this is not the experience we want you to have. Nest Protect can only be controlled remotely to the Nest app and can connect to the 2.4GHz bandwidth only. To confirm, what is the light status while it's chirping? Also, what is the make and model of the batteries you replaced? Just a reminder, Both battery and wired Nest Protect require Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA (L91) batteries. Don’t use rechargeable or alkaline batteries. If you do, they will quickly drain and will need to be replaced soon after installing them. Looking forward to your response.
Best,
Emerson

Hi Emerson,
My apologies for the late response!
Yes, the original batteries still have charge in them , so they are the Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA batteries.
It shows a yellow light and audibly says "The Sensor in this Nest Protect has failed".
I sent in a warranty claim via the online form but never received a response.
Thank you for your assistance.
