Stupid me just bought two Google branded Nest Protect Gen2 thinking they'll integrate into Google Home so I can do things like
You know - stuff developers / @GoogleNestTeam would have thought about 🙄 Apparently once upon a time Google was fully committed to integrate this ... years ago.
Are there still plans to integrate Nest Protect or will it share the same fate as Nest Secure?

Return them to the store now. No matter how hard google claims this is on their "rOaDmAp" it's not happening. It took us years and over 100 posts to get them to say that, but zero effort has been shown that they'll ever do this or make an attempt.
I'm doubtful they'll successfully maintain the levacy Nest app over the next 7-10 year lifespan of your detectors.
Oddly enough, i've seen other brand detectors advertise function in Google Home.

Fair enough. I'll just leave them in place - after all they still do their basic function given I opted for the wired detectors. I'm just glad I didn't go with the battery ones since they often die after two years and start eating batteries like there's no tomorrow.

Whatever fits your needs best. Just like to make sure ppl have complete information.
Personally from what i've seen on the forums here, if i had just spent over 100 per detector and could still return them i would. (False alarms and failure to alarm are the two that ppl report that sketch me out.)

it is too late for me to return mine. I bought at Best Buy over a month ago. If I could return it I would. There is NO ROADMAP direction for Google Home and I can only access it from Nest not Google Home. They do have Roadmaps for other more imporant products for them such as AI & CLOUD but NOTHING for GOOGLE HOME??
I did find a workaround as some of Wyze cams do listen on their cam microphone for the T3 smoke Alarm & T4 CO alarm and do allow action to be taken with Wyze and Alexa. such as air conditioner off & lights on.

Google Home Specialists, please provide status on this integration. Why are you still selling Nest Protect at full price if they are not going to be integrated into Google home app. This seems a little irresponsible to sell end of life product at full price??? with no notice of end of life on the box???
