Mix of battery and wired Protects

Howdy. We currently have three battery Protects (2nd gen) in our home and are in the process of renovating an attached living space for my mother to live with us. It looks like the electrician (probably by code) wired two connections for smoke detectors that I was unaware of. If I use the electrical to hook up wired Nest Detects, will all of our detectors interconnect with each other? In my research I believe the answer is yes but thought I would ping some experts on here.

Related 2nd question: I believe the electrical in the new space includes a red interconnect wire for older smoke detectors; if I can use wired Protects in this scenario I imagine they are just ignored when using a wired Protect?

Thanks for the help.

Hi, I have one mains and one battery and they link and communicate fine. You're right in the fact of just ignoring the interconnecting wire, just use the live and neutral. Cheers.
