Hi,

I have a 2 Gen Smoke alarm, i needed to change my router/wifi network, and now it not will connect to my Wifi, i tried to connect it again with the hotspot in my phone, and keeping the phone next to the smoke alarm, but no luck, then i will try to add it again, but for some kind of reason i need to scan the QR code on the back of the smoke alarm, my problem is that it´s taped to ceiling, and i cannot get if of, i do still have the box, is there any way i can use the numbers on the box instead when i add it again..?

You either need the QR code or the setup key, both of which are physically printed on the back of the device I'm afraid. Going forward, I'd recommend writing down the setup key for each Protect you have and keep it in a safe place.

Ok, thanks.. for the next product i will do that, i will rip it of the ceiling, and try to mount it the "normal" way and use the stuff in the box for it..  i was just hoping that someone at Google Nest could tell me the setup key, if i had the numbers on the box..

But i will do it the hard way.. 🙂

Hello Dr_Henning,

Cool! In the event that the QR code or Entry key has been scratched, you can just connect the Nest Protect to a computer using a USB cable, then select the folder with technical information, which should show you the entry key code. Here is a link on how to install your Nest Protect using the mounting bracket.

Thanks for the help, @David_K.

Let me know if that helps.

Regards,
Edmond

Nice, i will try that, if it´s Scratched.. 🙂  thanks, i will for sure use the mounting bracket when i get it of the ceiling, my problem at start was that the ceiling is a very thin plate with almost no possibility for the screws to fasten.. but i will try again.. 🙂

Thanks for all the help.
