Nest Protect Needing Batteries Changed Frequently

Hey all, I rent a condo which came with the nest protect system.  I've been here for about two years and have probably had to change the batteries on my nest at least a dozen times if not more.  The batteries are always fresh double As.  I'd say on average the batteries need changed every two weeks although at times they only last a matter of days.

I was looking for input to see if this is normal or the result of a faulty product. I'm unsure if it is a gen 1 or gen 2. Looking online it says that batteries should last for five years which i'm absolutely no where close to.

Thanks in advance.

Going through the same thing. After scrolling through different online discussions and posts about this same topic, this seems to be an issue with Nest Protect. Ours worked just find for three years. Suddenly it's burning through batteries. Cynical me thinks it's been programmed to do this so we are forced into buying a new model.

Hi folks,

Thanks for posting and apologies for the late response.

What type of battery are you using? Make sure to use the recommended battery for the device which is the Energizer Ultimate Lithium (L91) battery, any other type of battery will cause the device to chirp and gets a low battery alerts.

Keep me posted.
