Nest Protect requires Wi-Fi for setup. If you then move it to an area without Wi-Fi, you won’t be able to get notifications, view status, or update settings in the app. It will still detect smoke and carbon monoxide, and if in range of your other Nest Protects, communicate with your other Nest Protects, and sound an alert via the wireless interconnect feature.
