Smoke detector light

Help. We bought a house with devices in the bedroom ceilings that look like the Nest smoke detector. I don't have any information about how they work. In one of the rooms, the device detects motion and turns on a swirling blue light when you're trying to sleep. It wakes people up. I don't know how to turn it off. Can't even find this mentioned online. What do I do?

The light you're seeing means Nest Protect is ready for setup. More information on the product below.

If you really want to turn it off, which we wouldn't recommended given it's a safety device, that depends on whether it's a wired or battery model. If it is a wired model, you would need to disconnect the wires and remove the batteries. If it's a battery model, removing the batteries will turn off the device.
