smoke sensor failure on 5 year old unit. cleaned and replaced batteries and even the unit says "replace me".
cracked the button trying to save it. now it looks like the other 3.

If you already cleaned the sensors, I am not sure the device can be restored safely.
You could reach out to Google Nest Support to ask about your options, but it looks like it needs replacement.

I went back and aggressively used canned air and a strong shop vacuum over every nook and cranny and only then did the unit pass its checks.
The hugh ugly hole in the middle does not say this Google product is well made. Suggest offering free vinyl stickers to cover up this flaw. Three out of 4 of mine are cracked from testing.
