Sudden beeping from Nest Protect

My Nest Protect suddenly started beeping today.  We've had it for 6 months with no issues.

It has a green light, and the App shows that the system is all good with no problems.  However, just one of ours has started beeping.  It will roughly beep 5 times, about a min or so between.  Then it stopped for awhile. And then it repeated the patten with the beeping.  

It's just now gone silent..  but it would be great to know why it is beeping randomly without any feedback as to why.

Yes, I did that first.  I even ran the self test just to make sure everything was ok.

It's started beeping again.  I was counting and it's about 12 seconds between each beep, with about 12 beeps total before it stops again.

Have you got the battery model or the wired model? 

Wired.  And the Wi-fi light is green, and the circle is green.

Let me share this with other experts to see if others have any experience with what you're describing. 

Please do.  It just went through another cycle of beeping, This time it beeped 8 times.

No problem. I take it you've already tried a factory reset?

Not yet, I'll try that now.
