Bypass Heatlink for hot Water

BenGillet

Hi,

My heatlink seems to be dead according to google and engineer will only come in 3 days. What is the wire configuration I should do to trigger the hot water with the boiler? I’ve read something about plugging wires from T5 and T6 into T5 but need to confirm. For information I’m on a standard Y plan.

Thanks!

Ben

Hello there! Thanks for posting. I am so sorry for any inconvenience this situation may have caused, but I'll be more than happy to assist. Could you please let me know if you have a spare Heat Link or elaborate on the situation a bit more?

Thanks in advance, Oana.

Thanks I don’t have a spare heatlink. It stopped working yesterday (error H72) and I need to bypass it to trigger my boiler for hot water. I have a y plan (ie no combi). Thanks !

I see. I don't recommend doing this, because this might affect the thermostat.  Please note if this is affecting the thermostat itself, your warranty will expire since this is an induced damage. But if you still want to try it, for your safety I would recommend getting in touch with an installer.

Thanks for your understanding.

Hey there, I haven't heard from you in a while so I'll be locking this thread. If you have any new issues, updates or just a discussion topic, feel free to start a new thread in the community. Thanks, AlexD.

Terminals 4 - 5 - 6 are your HW connection. I assume you might have terminals 5 and 6 connected out of yours??? Terminal 5 should be live in, and terminal 6 goes to your HW. You can override terminals 5/6 BUT they will be on 24hr. All the Heat Link does is uses those terminals as a switch via the relay. A safe method for a temp job, would be to fit a switch between terms 5-6, and use manually, but that is a temp job ONLY!!

Thinking about it, IF you have a spur next to your Heat Link, [which you should have,] then link the terminals 5/6 and use that as your switch. Remember it WILL be on 24hr if you forget to turn off!! Regarding the warranty, well it's faulty anyway, and if you want to be safe for the warranty, remove the connections out of terminals 5/6 and join in a SAFE connector of some form. You will at least get HW, but remember it will be NOT controlled by any timer, just the manual switch.
