Can control Nest only from App

When I try to control my Nest from the thermostat, the ring turns but nothing happens.  I tried to power off and rest thermostat but that didn't work.  When I push in the menu comes up but again when I turn ring nothing changes.  I can control thermostat from the App just fine.

Thanks for posting here and we're sorry for the delay.

Could you tell us which Nest Thermostat you're using? Have you checked what's the current ambient temperature? Are you trying to set it to cool or heat? Check out this link on how to change mode on your Nest Thermostat.

Gen 2.  I know how to change mode.  I can only control the Nest from my phone.  The unit itself does not respond to turns or push/enter.

Just got off the phone with Mike from customer support. He pretty much told me my thermostat was toast. No longer under warranty either. Looks like I'm going shopping now.
