We're trying to install a basic Nest thermostat and the directions take us to the point of needing the code which should be displayed on the thermostat. We're in the Nest app at that point, but the thermostat doesn't display anything except a message saying to complete the installation using Google Home app. But when we go there, it takes us back to the Nest app. We're going in circles! What do we need to do to get the code?

I've seen posts from a couple of customers who reported that they were able to resolve this circular reference problem by checking for an update to their Google Home app and updating it.
