Constantly having to log in

The other day I was alerted that there was smoke in my kitchen. I immediately opened the Nest app on my iPhone and it connected, but immediately logged me out. This is absolutely unacceptable. This app should not be doing this. It’s been this way for going on 3 years now. Luckily, it was a false alarm, but this needs fixed.

I’m not sure what is so unique about your situation and your phone. I have had my phone and my Nest app logged into several thermostats for several years and I have never ever experienced the situation you were describing. I don’t know if your problem is bad Wi-Fi connection, or an outdated software problem. First of all, make sure your nest thermostat has the latest software release, and then make sure your phone has the latest operating system installed.

Just a thought, is anyone else using the same Google account to view the thermostat? Could be a login conflict , however I doubt it as I use the nest app on both my phone and Chromebook at the same time without being logged out.

There is no way for another person to take control of a Nest Thermostat.  A Nest Thermostat is linked to a single Nest account.  It cannot be overridden and can only be removed with the Nest App or the Google Home App by performing a “delete device” function.  If the Nest Thermostat is family shared,  None of the family can take over the Nest.  Again, only the Nest Identification that is linked can delete the device.
