Hey,
Our suppliers told us the Nest Thermostat 3rd gen is not available for distributing to customers anymore, but as I was reading about the 4th gen it's only available in US/Canada and not confirmed to come to UK at any point.
Is there any update on this or shall we just swap to another product? All resources are quite unhelpful.
Hence my last hope is if any of you have heard anything about this?

Hello @LeMag
Thanks for reaching out to our Nest Community. We are happy to see you here.
The Google team is working hard on this. Regrettably, there is not recently news about this launch. I recommend that you always stay connected to our Google Blogs and Community forum to get information in case this new product is launched in your region.
Feel free to keep us posting if you have more questions. I'm here to help you.
Best regards,
Douglas.

I'm curious how you know that "Google is working hard on this", when you have no news to share. So is this just an empty response? References to the blog and community forum I have already got via Google itself, hence why I am here.
So I guess it will be the usual, nobody knows and one day Google may just say "Hey, it's available now in Store." or maybe not (if a distribution is not planned). It's sad though to see that the Gen 3 is not supported anymore, while Gen 4 is not rolled out yet here in UK. Frustrating for a business.
Anyway, thank you for the copy & paste response.

there’s something funny going on here…. I have just moved so wanted to install a 3rd gen as 4th wasn’t available. Google chat just would not admit to the aforementioned. Wanted Ecobee kit but heard it wasn’t supported in UK? I would be happy with 3rd Gen kit as I did everything I needed and was reliable for 3 years. Not sure what to do…..

I'm sticking with 3rd gen I already have which is two years old. Fully expect that when it fails will go, Nest won't be available so having to look for best alternative at the time and expect to have to install from scratch.

There’s a few 3rd gen’s on eBay one seller had them at £279.99, bought off him no issues
02-13-2025 11:22 AM
Sounds a bit dodgy to me!!
I thought you are selling them, NOT buying?
02-13-2025 01:10 PM
Sorry I meant they have some for sale
02-13-2025 01:11 PM
Nothing dodgy about eBay pal..

I think you are digging a bigger hole!
You said……….

You might be right saying nothing dodgy about eBay, but this isn’t about eBay,!

This is so frustrating!! Hope can Google abandon a whole market?!!
11-11-2024 02:50 AM
Are you really asking this question of GOOGLE of all companies?
Abandoning whole markets and product segements is pretty much their hallmark as a company. check out KilledByGoogle if you dont believe me.

Ha ha, thanks

This has been caused by our **bleep** government under Starmer by introducing higher tax levies on imports.
The nest was such a great quality product, I've fitted hundreds. It's sickening.
12-29-2024 08:21 AM
What a tool.
This was posted before labour were even elected to government.
You could blame brexit and the tories for high import duties and costs.
Or you could understand that US and EU thermostats are engineered entirely differently due to the vast differences in which heating systems work either side of the Atlantic ocean.
Google would essentially be creating an entirely separate product for the European Market, and wrapping it up in the same shiny metal shell

Don't reply with insults you left wing mongrel
01-05-2025 06:55 AM
Absolute nonsense. Which tariffs? Post a link or we’ll all know that you’re making stuff up.

This has nothing to do with Stuck Farmer and everything to do with manufacturing in china. No American electronic's are allowed to be manufactured in china, Donald Trump bought that in the first time around. Google now manufacture the new 4th gen and new google camera's in Thailand and Taiwan same as apple no longer manufacture in china and have moved to Thailand

I’m curious to know what will happen to the warranty? If you can’t buy one in the uk anymore? Surely it’s a breach of trading standards? I habe 5 nest thermostats in my house will they still work?
02-19-2025 05:34 AM
Yes they will still support them BOXT will be covering the warranty if they fail in there warranty period
12-18-2024 03:18 AM
The reasons for the issues in the UK are actually more to do with different conventiona in how heating and hot water systems are designed and installed. The way we integrate hot water and heating from the same boiler, the controller design conventions and voltages aren't compatible with the US device.
Under the hood, the Learning Thermostat 3 was a vastly different unit to it's US equivalent to be compatible with those systems.
Nothing to do with import problems. It's the design and manufacture.
01-07-2025 09:45 AM
Here in the USA we have the same heating/hot water systems you have in the UK & EU, I am a Viessmann installer, and one of the cheap options here in the USA is one of the intergas combi models.
We just have other systems that the nest needs to control, and ALL of our systems utilize 24v controls not 240v
12-19-2024 12:44 PM
If I purchased a US version would it work in the UK?
12-20-2024 11:06 AM
I wouldn't do that, even if it works, Google can be quite strict when it comes to warranty or similar and if they then figure out you have a US device that you're using in UK and bought it from elsewhere or from the US Google Store, they might not be able to help, refund or similar. You also may face issues when it comes to a return or repair. Personally, I wouldn't risk that.
03-05-2025 05:25 AM
No these only work in the USA they will not work with 230volt boilers in the UK
01-07-2025 07:00 AM
I here from my local heating engineer, Nest thermostat is stop being supported in the UK in 2025, so when it breaks there will no spares to replace. Start looking for an alternative, I guess.
01-09-2025 01:17 AM
Yes google flatly refuse to admit this old doorstop will be discontinued and are heavily discounting it at the moment. Dont buy is my opinion!
01-09-2025 07:03 AM
Our nest thermostat has broken, we are out of warranty and no where in the U.K. seems to have it in stock. What do I do now? Can I use a different thermostat on the same system? Thanks in advance!
01-09-2025 07:59 AM
Amazon UK still has the Copper variant if the UK 3rd gen nest learning thermostat in stock
02-06-2025 02:29 AM
Could you upload the link for this thermostat on Amazon?
The only ones on the UK amazon site I have seen for months are USA type.

I am hardly going to buy from ebay, if Google can't even honour a 2 year warranty these days!!
Further more the 5 year warranty states, Fitted AND supplied by a Nest Pro! That increases the cost by another £150+
02-02-2025 07:06 AM
Check ebay I have some for sale item number167286408674
01-09-2025 08:02 AM
Yep I saw that at £249! Some of the other thermostats are slightly cheaper was wondering how easy it was to change system?
01-25-2025 03:31 AM - edited 01-25-2025 03:35 AM
What exactly is wrong with your thermostat?
One thing to point out here regarding warranty in the UK. The retailer/supplier is responsible for any faulty equipment under 'UK Consumer Law'. The retailer/supplier will deny eveything obviously, but be persistant the law is on your side.
02-06-2025 07:27 AM
I found a service on eBay that repaired my Heatlink for £25. Super fast turnaround. Just before I refit it I get an automated email from Google telling me that the heatlink appears to be broken and that they’ll fix it for free. 🤷♂️🤦🏼

Yes it's being discontinued. don't buy or take any advise from google. They are complicit in deceitfully not informing buyers that it is being discontinued, not upgraded and not distributing the 4th gen in UK.
03-05-2025 02:02 AM
So is 4th gen not coming out?
03-05-2025 02:09 AM
not if you're in the UK no.
