Delete Auto Schedule from Nest Thermostat (not via app)

We have a new central heat pump system with a new Nest Learning Thermostat. We want to disable the Auto Schedule feature directly from the thermostat (not from an app). We want to change the temperature ourselves manually from the thermostat, based on daily conditions, not on what happened yesterday or the day before! The steps to do so should be simple! We have seen YouTube videos with different steps, and we could try them by trial and error. (Many viewers have had the same  extremely annoying issue and were ready to rip the thermostat from the wall due to its memory that none of us want.) We're inquiring here first.  Help, please?!

Hi

i’m almost completely new to Nest Learning Thermostat (it was installed on Monday) and despite having read throughn all the bumf I can’t work out how to stop it from pre-heating. I just want heating to start at my scheduled time, for example 18.00 - I don’t want it to start preheating 3 hours earlier.

Help!

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for the delay. I'd love to help.

@rcn, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, as I'll be willing to assist you further.

@Foremarke, please be advised that Early-on features can help your home save energy. You can visit this support article for more information.

You can follow the steps below to disable Early-on:

  1. Press your thermostat ring to open the Quick View menu.
  2. Select Settings
  3. Look for Nest Sense.
  4. Choose Early-On.
  5. To disable Early-On, select On schedule.

Best,

Jenelyn

Thanks, but I answered my own question with a helpful YouTube video. Maybe you could view it and recommend it to others? Or when others ask this question, just explain it answer in the same clear, easy to follow steps?

Many people have complained about the automatic temperature scheduling of the Google Nest thermostat. Many people hate the imposition of its memory and want to reset it. It's particularly burdensome to retirees and others whose personal schedules may vary more than those who, for example, work a 40-hour work week. It's even more frustrating to elderly people or others not used to "smart" devices or software fixes.

The default should be like that of "non-smart" thermostats so users can easily change indoor temperatures based on actual variances in daily outdoor temperature and/or our patterns of being away from home. (If people want to set features like auto scheduling, they should be able to do so.) Energy is wasted when the memory automatically changes the temperature based on the past rather than on actual conditions. Thanks to a YouTube video, I no longer waste precious energy, and I'm comfortable in my own home again.
