Error message in app

My nest temperature sensor went off line. Now when I try to reconnect the sensor, a message keeps appearing saying “The app had trouble connecting to the nest service. Try again”. It will no longer recognize or connect for that matter, the sensor. 
After several attempts, the nest app just randomly signs me out. That is very annoying! Any suggestions to these problems?

Sorry to hear about your experience with your Nest Temperature Sensor and Nest app. I want to check on it further. 

 

Could you try the following suggestions then let me know how it goes:

  1. Try moving your sensor a bit closer to your thermostat. Sometimes it may pass the connection test during setup, but will struggle to stay connected if it’s just a bit too far away.
  2. Force close your Nest app, restart your phone, then relaunch your Nest app.
  3. Ensure that your Nest app is running on the latest version.
  4. Check for objects such as mirrors and refrigerators between the sensor and your thermostat. These items could block the connection. For more help, read Troubleshooting wireless interference.
  5. Check the battery charge. The Nest app will send you a notification before the battery is fully drained, so you should have plenty of time to replace it.
  6. If the battery still has a charge, try removing it for 10 minutes. This lets power drain completely from the sensor and forces  it to reset. Then put the battery back in and check if the sensor has reconnected in the Nest app.

Nothing has changed. I’ve tried everything mentioned numerous times and it still will not connect to my thermostat. It is now connected to my app, but still not my thermostat. It is an expensive paperweight. Really makes me not want another one.

I'm having the same issues and have run through those same steps. I've tried standing right beside my thermostat and it will connect to my phone but not the thermostat.
