I have had a Nest E Thermostat for 2-3 years now. Only a few months into using it, I kept getting a low battery message from it, it disconnects from wifi and can't be controlled from a phone or PC in the Nest app when this happens.
I contacted Google support about this on three different occasions, they just told me to remove the thermostat and charge it with a phone charger when this happens. The battery gets low because I do not have a 5th wire, the C wire, in my thermostat wiring. That wire provides constant electricity that would allow the battery to stay charged, most homes have them these days but older ones like mine do not have that wire.
The Nest E sometimes works without that wire, but in my case (and for many others I've read about) people keep having the low battery issue.
I have been recharging mine with the phone charger as needed, but it's happening often enough that it's a real bother.
I was considering to have an electrician come here and install a C wire, but that can be expensive. Then I saw today that there are C wire adapter kits sold on Amazon... and then I saw the Nest Power Connector that's sold by Google.
According to other Nest users, beginning in mid 2021 people started receiving emails offering them a free Nest Power Connector to help their thermostats run correctly. Unfortunately I didn't receive one, but I could definitely use one.
Does anyone know if it's still possible to get the offer to receive a free one?

Unfortunately I think that offer ended in early July of 2021.

Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out. I just want to check if you managed to see the response above. Most customers who receive the email are Nest Thermostat 2020 users, as it really requires a C wire or Nest Power Connector prior to the installation. However, it looks like your system no longer provides sufficient power to your thermostat. I suggest visiting Google Store to check if there are Special Offers you can avail.
I appreciate your input, @David_K.
Best,
Jenelyn

Despite my thermostat regularly having power issues, I never got an email or any kind of offer to get the Nest Power Connector for free. I wonder if only happens for owners of the regular Nest Thermostat and I'm not getting it because I have the Nest Thermostat E.
I actually saw that the regular Nest Thermostat is on sale so I ordered one. Maybe it'll work better, maybe it'll give me the message about getting a free power connector. (I read on another forum that offer does still show up, someone got one last month). Either way I can sell the thermostat I don't use for as much as I paid for it, and maybe I'll get the free power connector offer.
I also read about a way to change the wires on your furnace, you can switch the G wire to C both there and on the thermostat in order to get a wired power connection (while giving up independent fan control). I don't plan to mess around with that unless I have to.
But one way or another I want to fix this without it costing me extra money in the end, I already paid for the Nest E which is advertised to work without an adapter, and I bought a Chromecast that was supposed to include a Netflix offer but that didn't work either, so I don't want to lose even more money to get my thermostat working.
