Try these steps:

  1. Press on the thermostat ring to open the Quick View menu.
  2. Go the settings cog.
  3. Select Reset.
  4. Select Restart.
  5. After your thermostat restarts, you can try to reconnect it to Wi-Fi. On your thermostat, go to the Settings cog > Network.

If you still see the W5 error code, contact Google Nest customer support to help resolve this issue. Be sure to let them know you've already tried the steps above.

  1. Select "Thermostats", type a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
  2. Click "Other", then click "Next step" until you see the contact options.
  3. Choose to get a call or call or chat with the team as available in your country.

Hi, I tried that several times and it didn't work. I just got my replacement Nest in and that seems to be working fine now. I think the other one is just defective. Thanks for following up!
