Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me.
We've had a google nest thermostat (on the wireless base) and heat link for 2 to 3 years now, working perfectly. On Sunday I noticed the display read 'Delayed 2.45' with the clock ticking down. It got to 0.00 and flashed orange as if about to heat, then after barely more than 1 second, went back again, and the message reset from 3.00. This happened on a constant loop. Looking at the heat link, it had a solid yellow light, and going in the nest app, if I changed the temp etc, it would be mirrored on the thermostat display, which I took to indicate that the thermostat was working, and the issue could be the heat link?
I worked through various troubleshooters and ideas I could find on line, up to facroty reset of both heat link and thermostat. There is very little change, apart from now the heat link only flashes blue, rather than constant yellow.
I've seen online ways to relink the 2, but they seem to require having an error code, which possibly gives further options. I have no error code, just the delayed message, and the thermostat display tells me that the temp is about 6 degrees (clearly wrong)
If anyone has anything I can try, or has had similar, I'd be very grateful for any help, the google nest support chat and phone line seem to be out of service... (unless it's just not available in the UK?)
Thanks,
Oli

Assuming you have a 3rd generation thermostat as you don't mention the model, the yellow light on the Heat Link is loss of power. I'm not sure what you have exactly done to reset etc., but if you have a yellow light on the Heat Link, press the display against the wall and keep pressed until the house shows, then release.
Have you factory reset or just restarted?
Which model you do have?
What do you see on the Display at present?
What do you see on the Heat Link at present?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
Yes, it's a 3rd gen, I thought I'd stated that, but obviously forgot.
I tried basic restarts first, but have ended up factory resetting both, as no change (pressed heat link button for 20ish seconds, and reset all option on thermostat, then going through all the options and adding again on app)
Currently the display shows the thermometer, stating a room temp of 6, and target of 19, and a message saying 'delayed 3.00' counting down.
Heat link currently has a pulsing blue light.
The other odd thing (not sure if it's connected) is that after resetting the thermostat, on the 'equipment' part of the reset, I had to select either a humidifier, or a dehumidifier. I don't have either, and it wouldn't let me skip. I don't remember that being the case when it was originally set up, but certainly never had reference to a dehumidifier on the screen (or app) before.
Thanks for the help so far,
Oli

Ah, your final part of the message explains everything!! You missed the most important details.
You can reset, restart etc., as many times as you like but none will work.
You have a faulty base, the round ring the display attaches to.
Many people will not work the porblem out, but 99.9% that will be the problem, swap that and all should be good.

Thank you very much for all your help. Good to know where the problem is now.

Hi, @Oli2!
Thank you for contacting the community. I'm sorry to hear that your heating system is malfunctioning, especially after years of reliable performance. I understand how concerning it is to see the "Delayed" message looping and the Heat Link displaying a solid yellow light. I appreciate you taking the time to perform a factory reset on both devices. I understand that, following the reset, the Heat Link is flashing blue and displaying an incorrect temperature reading of 6 degrees. I’m here to help!
To better assist you, please provide the following information:
A blue light on the Heat Link indicates it's ready to pair with the Nest Thermostat. To reconnect the devices, follow these steps:
Please let me know how it goes.
Best regards,
Ana
