Help with Nest Thermostat manual operation

Have a gas forced air heater; no AC; old thermostat worked perfectly. Hooked up the simple 5-wire (with C) from old thermostat to new Next (basic model). I can't get ANYTHING to work (batteries are okay) - I'd be happy with manual operation just to get it going. What could be wrong?

@BBGULETZ, I appreciate you posting a picture of your thermostat's wiring diagrams. I can tell that you wired your Nest Thermostat correctly, but I'd love to know more about this.

Could you tell us more about what's going on? Is the heat not turning on? Also, have you successfully set up your thermostat in the Google Home app?
