Help with connecting wires on thermostat

Have an extra wire on old thermostat with E. Can’t figure out what to do with it.

Can post the picture you took of the old thermostat?  normally the E is for Emergency Heat when you have a heat pump system.  Only the Nest Leaning Thermostat can support both Auxiliary and Emergency heating control.
