Home app crashes when scanning QR code for nest thermostat

I am unable to connect my nest thermostat to the Home app on my iPhone X. I go through the connection steps in the Home app, but every time I scan the QR code on the thermostat the app crashes and returns to the main screen.

Troubleshooting steps I’ve tried:

- Resetting the network, and resetting the whole thermostat

- Updated the Home app software on my phone
- My nest is connected to my Wifi and the software is up to date.

I had the same problem. After a couple hours of research, I got it all set using the Nest app.

1) Install “Nest” from App Store and setup to your Google account profile.

2) Open and click on settings (gear symbol) in upper right corner.

3) Select “add product”

4) Scan the thermostat’s QR code. (You can display the QR code on the thermostat by going into settings and selecting “NEST APP”)

5) The app will walk you through the rest of the installation and the thermostat will be added to your Google home account.

6) Open Google Home app and the thermostat should be added to your devices.

🙂

I was able to get it to work after doing an app update.

Does not work the Nest app says I need google home app wich is already installed and will not set it up
