Is all of this a joke? W5 error code and no one to help.

I swear I wish I had never let them put this thermostat in my home. W5 error code but not a soul to talk too. Customer service would have to improve in order to call it a joke…

@GaryS1, all W errors have to do with the Wi-Fi system. This is an indication that you were having some kind of difficulty with the Wi-Fi connection. For example The thermostat might be connected to the Wi-Fi access node however, the access node does not have Internet access. This would be called a W4 error. Just double check your WiFi accessibility.

To add to CoolingWizard's advice, there are specific troubleshooting steps for this error:
Troubleshoot a Nest thermostat W5 code - Google Nest Help

If you've already tried restarting the thermostat, or the issue persists after you try doing that, the best thing to do is contact the Google Nest support team directly.

  1. Go to Contact Us - Google Nest Help
  2. Select an appropriate option, type a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
  3. Click "Other", then click "Next step" until you see the contact options.
  4. Choose to get a call or call or chat with the team as available in your country.

Make sure you have the help code and your thermostat’s serial number ready to go before your call. To find your thermostat’s serial number, pull the display off the base and flip it over. The serial number is above the QR code on the back of the display. When you reach an agent, be sure to let them know you've already tried restarting your thermostat.
