Learning nest thermostat

Installed a nest thermostat and it works fine on the wall and shows wifi connection. When I try to pair my phone all I get is error code TD023. My wifi is fine!  When I first tried I used a yahoo email snd couldn’t add a user. I was told it should be google accounts so I switched and now neither phone will pair!  I’ve called HVAC folks - nothing and tried to buy a new unit at Best Buy and have it installed / they don’t install!

• What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?
• Can you still control it stand alone?
• What message are you getting when you try to add it to your Google Home app?
