My existing thermostat has wires connected to R, C, E1 and E2. The app says I need a Y or W, but I have neither a Y or W label on the current thermostat. R has a red wire, C is blue, E1 is green, E2 is yellow.

No, I didn’t. Had to put the old one back on until I have an opportunity to revisit the issue. This is 1 of 2 different thermostats I bought Nests to replace.

Hey Macfawlty,
I would be glad to help you out, and see if we can get you up and running. Do you mind me asking if you are able to review your system control board and see what both the E1 and E2 wires control? In most cases an E wire is for emergancy heat.
You can also look into having a Nest Pro come out and take a closer look. They would be able to review your system and ensure everything is set up properly. Please let me know, if you are able to review your control board so I can take a closer look.
Best regards,
Jake

I don’t know what the E1 and E2 control. There is no other label.

Hey Macfawlty,
If you are unsure what the E1 and E2 wire controls, I would recommend having a Nest Pro come out and take a closer look. They would be able to find your control board and ensure everything is set up and working properly. If you are able to find the control board, please let me know, as I would be happy to assist you further. Please let me know if you have any questions from here.
Best regards,
Jake
