Nest E heat link

AdrianJoey
Community Member

Hi all,

I have a 3rd gen on the downstairs and a Nest E upstairs.

last night the Nest E went offline, saying error connecting to heat link. I’ve reset the unit a number of times, and it does connect to the heat link if im next to the unit (in my garage downstairs).

Every time I place it upstairs it goes back offline.

any suggestions?

Thanks

Adrian

Hi there, Adrian!

Thanks for reaching out. I am sorry to hear you have problems with your products. Is there any way to move the thermostat closer to the Heat Link or the other way around. I suggest doing so because there might be a lot of interference and that's why the connection between them is weak. You can read more about this here: https://goo.gle/3EDLiIt.

Thank you Paul.

I have, right next to it and it works, but it’s supposed to be for an upstairs thermostat.

are the 3rd gen wired versions a lot better in terms of connection between the thermostat and heat link?

thanks

The wired connection between the 3rd Generation Nest Learning Thermostat and its Heat Link is much more secure than the wireless one. Factors such as interference or distance won't matter anymore, and if wired properly, it won't ever disconnect. Also in terms of features, the 3rd Generation is more versatile and equipped.
