Why does one of my units show auxiliary heat instead of just heat. Also how do I hold a temperature for more than 24 hours

The simplest way to hold a temperature "permanently", i.e., until you remove the hold, is to turn on Eco Mode. Set the Eco temperature to what you want, before or after turning on Eco Mode.

No. Still can't set the temps to a hold

Sorry, the advice I gave you was for the Learning or E model. If you have the Nest Thermostat not Learning not E, then this article explains how to hold the temperature for more than 24 hours: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10120172?hl=en
