I run a system with 3x nest 3rd gen units.
all works well but I would like to get better at running the heating
I have read about the battery operated Nest temperature sensors that can send the temp in other parts of the house to the system
will they work in the Uk I’ve seen snippets around the web saying they won’t work for firmware reasons ?

Hi @SimonP
As far as I know they wont work if they are not officially sold by the Google store in your country.
I bought on in the NY Google Store and tried it at home (Netherlands) because I just wanted to try it.
But it did not work. The Nest Thermostats in the US are different from the ones in Europe.
So I wouldnt recommend getting it.
You could use any other Smart Valve system next to Nest Thermostat to get almost the same result. 😊

Many thanks. Wonder why they won’t work. Is it a deg F vs deg C thing or some geospatial restriction. What I will do is simply use some Wi-Fi connected temp sensors and play around with NEST t9 get the right schedule I’d imagine that they will work eventually. , But perhaps GOOGLE wants me to buy a thermostat for each room.

Hello folks,
I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.
Thanks for helping, @RXShorty.
@SimonP, the Nest Temperature Sensor is currently compatible with thermostats designed for use in one of the following countries:
The thermostat ought to function with the sensor as long as you get it from a merchant in one of the nations mentioned above. However, the sensor is not yet compatible with thermostats made for use in other countries. Feel free to let us know if you have more questions in mind.

Mark

Many many thanks to all who have helped with my question. I have found and installed an alternative solution It’s from Diivoo and while it doesn’t talk to NEST it does talk to Alexa and allows me to better manage the NESt system as I now have temperature in 6 rooms

Hi SimonP,
That's cool! I'm glad to know that there are 3rd-party smart sensors that would work for your Nest Thermostat. In line with this, I also want to encourage you to share your feedback on the compatibility of the Nest Temperature Sensors with the Nest Thermostats in the UK version, and rest assured that our team is working tirelessly to bring the best features to Google Nest devices.
Please let us know if you have any further questions; otherwise, we'll close the thread in 24 hours.
Regards,
Mark
