Nest thermostat not connecting to app after brief power outage

We had a power outage last night during Hurricane Lee. Our generator kicked on immediately so no long outage.

We noticed soon after that Nest was not connected to our Google Home app. So I gave it a simple restart. It did not reconnect to app.
It is connected to wifi.

So we gave it a COMPLETE reset and removed the device from Google Home.

It came back just fine after its complete reset, and now connects to the WiFi again.. but Google Home cannot discover it.

So we've tried to add the device (nothing can "discover" the thermostat, and i've noticed before that new devices appear in the home screen of Google Home in a bubble on top, something like "set up Nest thermostat" etc - that does not happen here... ) - we have tried to ADD the device by typing in the code (some devices get to the "select your serial number screen, some don't even get that far, all fail), we have tried by scanning the QR code (on all devices, we can scan the QR code) and the app just dumps you to the Google Home "home screen" once the QR code is scanned.

I've tried everything I can think of and can't get past this. Google Home is up to date on all the devices. The thermostat is connected to WiFi and has an IP in the same subnet, same wireless network.

It seems to work as a stand-alone HVAC control but is now completely unlinked from the app and the only way to control it is via the front panel.

Any help? should we just dumpster it and get a new one?
Thanks-

I have older and newer Cameras so I have been using both the Google Home and Nest apps on my Android phone. I deleted the Nest App today as it was giving me nothing, but problems lately and it deleted the Thermostat from the Google Home App.  I have tried every conceivable way to get it added back to the Home App, but it refuses to see it.   This necessitated reinstallation of the Nest app and I then had to repeat the ENTIRE setup procedure again.  As soon as that was completed the Google Home app instantly saw the Thermostat again.  Another $$$hitty day with Google Products...

Hi there Swen,

I'd like to take a closer look at it. Could you please share with us your Nest Thermostat's power readings?

  1. Open the Google Home app and then tap the thermostat and then tap Settings .
  2. Select the Device Information.
  3. Choose Technical Information.

I appreciate the input, @MW707 and Zoe.

Thanks,

Jenelyn
