Hello all.
I’m just trying to get my nest up and running.
It seems pretty straightforward but I tend to complicate things.
From what I gathered, the L isn’t necessary on the new one so I guess the only question I have is would I put the aux wire to the W spot on the nest? That’s the only open spot so I guess it would have to, right?
thanks in advance!

@bibalo , Unfortunately you have a Heat Pump with Auxiliary Heat and Emergency Heat. Your system can only be supported using a Nest Learning Thermostat. The Nest thermostat you have purchased, cannot support a Heat Pump with Auxiliary Heating. About the L wire, you will not need that wire.

Thank you. Not what I was hoping to hear but I appreciate the help!
Not sure why it says the Nest is compatible, but whatever.
I’m returning the Nest and getting the Learning Nest.
Thanks again

Hi folks,
@bibalo, alright! Sounds like a plan! I'll keep this thread open while you get a Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd generation. Once you get it, the image below is your reference on how you should connect your thermostat wires to the Nest Learning Thermostat's base.
Also, here's a guide for the installation and setup of Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd generation.
Thanks for your help, @CoolingWizard.
Best,
Zoe

Hi there,
Just one final check in here since activity has slowed down. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you still need help, I would be happy to keep it open. If there's more we can do, just let me know.
