Overriding thermostat

Gibbo
Community Member

I have an issue and I have no idea how to overcome it.

tiniggtbi have come in and thermostat is preheating. But I’m getting changed, going out and won’t be back til tomorrow evening. (This happens once a week but on random days).  So I’ve turned the thermostat to 17 to Knick off the heating tile tomorrow. 10 minutes later I’m back to preheating for my 7pm temperature target.

how do I stop this happening?

"Eco mode" is what you want  --  Nest's name for a permanent hold.  See e.g.   https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9245535?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid

You set the Eco temperature in "Settings".  Then, on your way out, turn Eco mode on.   As you're returning (far enough ahead to give your system time to heat up the house), turn Eco mode off.

What you're doing now is a temporary hold, that's in effect only until the next set point in your schedule.

Hi Gibbo,

Thanks for reaching out and we're glad to see you here in the Google Nest Community.

The information shared by CBFox is correct. Your Google Nest thermostat can automatically switch to Eco Temperatures after it senses that nobody’s home. You’ll know Eco Temperatures are active when you see Eco on your thermostat and in the Nest or Google Home app. You can also set Eco Temperatures when you are at home to help save energy.

You could check this link for more information.

Thanks for your help, CBFox.

Best regards,

Ryan
