Can someone PLEASE tell me what the peak power consumption is (i.e. worst case VA load) for a Google Nest thermostat? I am trying to make sure my transformers are correctly loaded.
I have not been able to find this spec anywhere.
Thanks

Hi jammy54,
Thanks for reaching out here in the Google Nest Community. The estimated power consumption for the Nest Thermostat is less than 1 kWh/month. You could check out more information here.

Ryan

@Ryan_G : Thanks for your answer, but I am looking for the peak (worst case) VA consumption. I imagine this would be when the batteries are being charged. I need the worst-case VA load in order to size the transformers in my system correctly.

Hey jammy54,
Thanks for the reply.
The 1kWh per month is the information we can share and its 20-30 VAC compatibility.
For further assistance regarding what transformer size you're going to get, we recommend consulting your local HVAC technician.
Regards,
Ryan

I STILL need the answer. How much power (watts or VA) does the Nest draw in the WORST CASE, e.g. when charging weak batteries?

My question is still not answered. Let me put it another way.
How many Google Nest thermostats can I put on a 40 VA transformer without exceeding its capacity?
08-29-2022 12:38 PM
Hey jammy54,
Sorry for the confusion here. The Nest Thermostats themselves don't use much power. It would be more your HVAC system. I would recommend reaching out to an HVAC professional, as they would be able to provide you with more details.
Best regards,
Jake
