Replacing Trane Thermostat with Heat Pump

I am trying to replace a TRANE tcont803as32daa heat pump thermostat with a Nest Thermostat (not Nest Learning). The app says it is not compatible but I'm not sure if that is due to the existing Trane unit having a X2 wire, which wasn't an option in the compatibility checker. The Trane thermostat also has S1 & S2 but it is my understanding that these are not required for the Nest.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for the delay. It seems like your X2 wire is for emergency heat. If you want to have your emergency heat, your system will only be compatible with Nest Learning Thermostat. If your X2 wire is not in use, your system will be compatible with any Nest Thermostats.

Best,

Jenelyn
