I need to manually remove the pin on thermostat via USB cable. We forgot the pin and this is our final Thermostat we are setting back up in the shop.

Hi @winnjm27

According to THIS post you are not able to reset it without PIN by your self and you need help from Google Nest Support.🙂

That is correct. I have it plugged in via USB cable. I can see the Technical Info file. What next?

Hi @winnjm27

You should contact Google Nest Support to get you up and running.
Sorry, I am not much more of a help.

You will need to provide specific information to Google proving you are legitimate owner of the Nest Thermostat you’re trying to unlock.  You need your purchase receipt, a picture of the QR code on the back of the thermostat, the original box that shows the serial number.

Besides, if you use the Nest App and the nest account that thermostat is registered to, you can unlock it with out the PIN.

Hi winnjm27,

Thanks for reaching out to us, and I’m sorry to hear about the situation.

Is your Nest Thermostat still added to the Nest app? If yes, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure that the thermostat is online.
  2. On the Nest app, select the thermostat you’d like to unlock, then select Settings, then Unlock.

Let us know if that helps.

Thanks for your help, @CoolingWizard and @RXShorty

Best,

Zoe
