Reset has resulted in fan blowing cold air when in heat mode.

We moved into our house in 2018 and the Nest E thermostat was already installed.

  • The thermostat has been working fine for five years with one intermittent issue…the heat would occasionally go on in the middle of the night when it was supposed to be on eco mode (63 degrees F). 🤷‍♀️
  • We have a houseful of guests coming and I thought I would finally just do an All Settings Reset. I didn’t note the equipment or wiring settings before reset (I know, it was dumb.)
  • Now when putting on heat, our fan just blows cold air, unless I put it on emergency heating. That isn’t workable as a permanent solution.
  • We have a gas furnace, no heat pump. This is how the unit was wired by the company who remodeled the house. I don’t why there is a wire for a heat pump.

Housegusts are due on Friday.
Any help would be appreciated!

Update:

I still can’t get the fan to stop, but when I pull off the display, it does. So the problem is clearly with the Nest.

Anyone out there?

Thanks for reaching out. I decided to try disconnecting the *OB heat pump wire this afternoon and it seems to be working now. I don’t understand why it worked with that wiring all these years, and then didn’t. But the fan now seems to be syncing with the heat now and not running continuously.

Still wondering if there was a firmware or software update recently.
