Thermostat change to nest

 my current thermostat has a blue wire connected to the G opening instead of B. It does not have a C option. Should I connect to the G opening on nest as well?

You wire color and connections the same when you switch to the Nest. You can use what I call the basic Nest Thermostat for your needs.  
Your wires will be:

R/Rc/Rh Red wire to Nest R or Rc

W white wire to Nest W or W1

Y Yellow wire to Nest Y or Y1

G dark blue wire to Nest G
