Thermostat charging, Help

homie
Community Member

Greetings, after years of service, I have...

Model: Display-2.12, Backplate model: Backplate-2.21
Software: 5.9.4-5, Battery: 3.83 volts

I now have to remove it from the wall and charge every few days. I have only 4 wires (y1, g, rc, w1) available.

Can anyone help?  I would like to avoid the expense of pulling wire.

So, Nest (google) support says... in this configuration your thermostat will "wear down" ie: life time of 3 years!!!

No mention of this on purchase.

Hi homie,

Thanks for posting here in Community, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. I'd like to take a look at this for you.

A few questions: For how long does your Nest Learning Thermostat last after charging it? And, aside from the battery level of your Nest Learning Thermostat, can you help me with the rest of its power readings?

  1. To open the Quick View menu, press the thermostat’s ring.
  2. Choose Settings.
  3. Turn the ring to highlight Technical Info then press the ring to select it.
  4. Select Power.
    • VOC
    • VIN
    • IIN

I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Thank for the interest Zoe, Support did not ask for this.  Since the call with support, I have replaced the thermo.  I will hook up the original in a day or so.

Hi there,

Thanks for getting back to us, and for lending us this information.

Disconnect your Nest Thermostat from your Wi-Fi network for 24 hours to monitor if the same situation will persists. To disconnect the thermostat from the network, select Settings, then look for Reset, and then select Account Connection.

Hi Theone202,

It's me again. I know it’s been a while, and I thank you for getting back to us.

Have you tried to reconnect your Nest Thermostat to WiFi again? If so, how is it going now?

Regards,

Zoe

On reconnect, the thermostat is not behaving.

Responds to push, but twisting the dial goes nowhere.  Push again and the thermostat display responds  in a _very_ sluggish (and unpredictable) manner to temperature adjustment.

It seems like junk to me.
