Undetectable wires after setting up

Bought a new nest thermo, we followed set up instruction but it won’t connect. Batteries and Bluetooth checked. No issues. Looks to us wires are correct.

After we reinserted wires, it still won’t connect but the message read @ @“you may need to reset your device to factory setting”. How can I set it when it is not even connected to the network ?

no. I tried again, it says my device is not compatible, but the system did meet the compatibility criteria.
