I can't connect my nest thermostat to WiFi and have spent hours on chat support going through all the troubleshooting. Now they want a pic of the w5 error, but I can't seem to find it again. I am so frustrated 😠

W5 fault is an easy one to locate on your thermostat display.
Settings - look on that part of the dial just rotate one way or the other - or - settings - Network
The W5 error will be there to see.

I did that. But it's not showing anything

I did a factory reset as nest support advised, but still no WiFi, and now no error code which they want a photo of before helping further.

OK I understand, and that's common, try restart, by pressing the display against the wall until the house comes back on. Then see if the error comes back. You can also try to go into Software update, and try to update the software. You will not be able to obvioulsy with the W5 fault. Try also reset of the network in the Reset menu, try these methods a few times. Factory reset is not always the best, as sometimes it clears the error code, as it has with yours.
You are trying ways to force the error back on the screen.
Nest are really helpful, but without proof, sadly their hands are tied.
By the way, was your thermostat logged into your account before this happened?

I am getting a replacement thermostat as my current one is faulty, but I m told its not the whole unit. How do I separate it from the Base? Confused user.
