The heat link is faulty. It works for only a few minutes then stops working.

You say it works then stops, what exactly happens? ie no power, lights go out, no connection?

Power is on, the green light on the heat link is on, but the connection between the room stat and the heat link seems to break down, so the firing of the boiler is random on/off irrespective of what the room stat is displaying.

Thank you for the information provided @db83 . So it seems though even though you turn on the heat and the display is orange and says the heating is on there is no reaction from your boiler, correct?

Let's do some tests to see how the relays in the Heat Link behave. Go next to the Heat Link and open the Nest app on a mobile device:

1. Select your thermostat to access the heating controls and make sure the screen is black, heating is off.
2. Turn up the temperature until the display goes orange, heating on, and listen for a clicking noise.
3. Turn the temperature back down until the display is black again, heating off, and listen for a clicking noise again.

Let me know what the results are.

Hi there @db83 and thanks for reaching our Community. I'm sorry to hear about your issue, but I'll do my best to help you out with this. It's best to gather some details first. Are there any lights on the Heat Link? Is it just the relay that kicks back?

Yes the green light is lit at the top of the heat link cover. There is an intermittent failure between the room stat and the heat link. Sometimes the boiler will fire and sometimes it doesn’t even though the room stat is calling for heat. It’s as if the line of communication between the room stat and the link breaks down intermittently.
