Google Next Home Lost all ability to look at Google Wifi.

Seems the Google Home app did an update and I cannot see any Wifi info or lists, my rooms are all empty.  Can not add wifi or even see them when I try to add them.  I did not see Add Wifi in + so not sure what to do.  Just go through Looking for Devices and then back to the list of what you want to look for.  My Puck is right next to me and I have Wifi through it for any other device.  Just google home app cannot find it.

This USED to be a simple point at the QR code, WTF Google?

I uninstalled, reinstalled, reset the Google Wifi hubs.  NOTHING seems to let me add anything to the Home app.

certainly,  SO far I have reset the nest and had the network rebooted a few times. I am hesitant to delete all the old hubs as the one I did delete I cannot get sync'd back up.

Thanks for letting me know what you've tried so far, bjoneselim.

Before we dive deeper, let's have you reset your connection to cloud services. This is often a quick fix for these sorts of communication issues. Here's the process for doing that.

Open the Google Home app.

  1. Tap the WiFi icon.

  2. Tap Settings.

  3. Select Privacy settings.

  4. Toggle Nest WiFi cloud services OFF and wait for 30 seconds, then back ON.

Once done, close the Home app and perform a full network restart to ensure that the new settings are in place. To do this, I would recommend doing a power cycle on your network.

  1. Disconnect the power adapter and the Ethernet cable from the Nest WiFi router.

  2. Disconnect the power adapter from the Nest WiFi points.

  3. Disconnect the power adapter from the modem. Allow all devices to stay disconnected from the power for 5 minutes.

  4. Connect the power back to the modem only and wait for it to fully back up. All lights should be lit up before moving to the next step.

  5. After the modem is back online, connect the Ethernet cable back to Nest WiFi router's WAN port (globe symbol port).

  6. Connect the power back to the Nest WiFi router and to the Nest WiFi points. Wait until they're all fully back on.

After running through that process, if you're still having issues, we can look at other steps. Thanks.

Okay, First I have had power out while we had this saga happen which I am sure is pretty did thaT EXACT THING.   The issue is the APP not Tracking the Old Google Wifi setup, NOT THE MODEM OR PUCKS THEY WORK!!! WIfiMan app sees them fine, your Nest app does not., At this point, the old,  "Have you tried turning it off and on again" is rather insulting).  Also, there is NO WAY it is the modem. Come on., really?   I use to have Google Wifi, with 4 pucks, you discontinued it to move to Nest, and now I lost the ability to take the wifi status through the Nest app which YOU moved me to, so tell me What is the likely cause here? My Modem???

Please quit telling me to reboot, restart the pucks,  they ain't the issue the APP is the issue here.

NM  disabling it and returning the product as this is unreasonable.  Google WIFI should Work with GOOGLE NEst it the Home app should work with Wifi.

Hey, bjoneslim.

The Home app does manage the WiFi network and is where you will change and update any settings for your network. Resetting the cloud services, as I mentioned, often times clears up any communication hiccups that might be causing issues. This is why it's suggested to try the cloud services reset steps. I know it's frustrating to have issues with the app as it locks out any management, so hopefully these steps will restore that for you.

Thanks.

Why would I need Cloud for a local WIfi? I don't use cloud services. this is LOCAL wifi. If you mean reset the modem  Yea  that happened as I stated a few times. Unless Googlewifi uses DNS or some subscription service not mentioned. I am not confident in this answer at all. Local Wifi set up locallyu with Bluetooth should IN NO WAY require cloud.

Hi, bjoneselim.

The cloud services used by the WiFi system is more for communication back to Google servers, so making sure your communication channels are working well helps. It's worth giving it a try and seeing if it will improve things.

Thanks.
