Google WiFi and Roomba 980 - 2.4ghz?

I recently acquired a Roomba 980 series and have a simple Google WiFi setup with one additional access point in my small home for good coverage. I cannot connect to the Roomba, presumably because it has issues connecting to the simultaneous 2.4 and 5 bands. I have read quite a few posts from "olavrb" and others, none of which have helped me solve the issue. How do I isolate 2.4ghz in order to get this Roomba set up? I've tried going outside where I only have one bar of wifi reception and have tried using a guest network to no avail. Thank you.

Please don't post this link - it's really not helpful.

Nest Wifi doesn't have a feature to have seperate Wifi networks for each band. As you're experiencing, some smart home devices only use the 2.4 GHz band and will not be available for setup if your phone is on the 5 GHz band. I saw you selected iOS as the device you're using for setup. Unfortunately, iPhone/iPad also doesn't have a feature to specify which band you'd like to connect on. If you're able to use an Android phone or tablet, even temporarily, you may be able to tell the Android device to only connect on the 2.4 GHz band temporarily in it's Wi-Fi settings. Refer to the manufacturer's support information to see if it has this feature.

Aside from that, the waves of the 2.4 GHz band can travel a greater distance than those of the 5 GHz band. The only other solution, which it sounds like you've already tried, is to try to move farther away from your router and points until your phone moves to the 2.4 GHz band and then proceed with setting up your smart home devices.

Some smart home devices are manufactured to a better standard than others, and don't have this problem. If you've tried those steps above to no avail, there aren't really any other options I'm afraid.

Hi to both of you - I think I'm just out of luck on this one - sounds like I have the perfect combination of products that don't function together, unfortunately. Obviously, I think it's annoying that my wifi doesn't address this issue since so many older smart home products are on 2.4 only and so many people use iOs devices but I can't do anything to fix that.

Hey,  priestcarson.

I do have one more thing you can try real fast. Try setting up a guest network. The guest network functionality will keep things at 2.4GHz only and you can set a separate ID and password for it. See if your devices will connect properly in that manner and let me know if that works.

Thanks.
