All of a sudden today when I attempt to Pause any device on my google wifi I get the following message:
Google wifi failed to update blocking policy of family wi-fi group, please try again later.
I have restarted the network multiple times and continue to encounter the issue. How can this be fixed?

I had devices paused and now I can’t unpause them. Sounds like it could be connected

I am having same issue. Just stated today
12-06-2024 02:31 PM
Same issue started yesterday, some devices are working and others are not even though they say they are connected to the internet
12-07-2024 06:38 PM
Same problem, mine started a couple days ago
12-09-2024 05:54 AM
Fixed-purchased a new non-google WiFi setup, the three puck nest has been problematic since I put it in 5 years ago. Glad to have it gone.
I did see that some people had the issue a few years back, factory reset was the fix at the time.
12-12-2024 06:55 PM
Anyone try a factory reset?
12-08-2024 07:05 AM

12-08-2024 01:14 PM
Same issue here “Failed to update blocking policy of Family Wi-Fi group, please try again later.”. Any solutions?
12-08-2024 04:35 PM
I’ve also had this for a few days. Get that message and it will show devices paused in app but they’re not paused. Defeats the point really? As with others can’t find any info online about this ?
12-09-2024 04:13 PM
Pains me to do a factory reset - has anyone done this and can confirm it fixes this issue?
12-10-2024 04:01 PM
Same!
12-10-2024 04:23 PM
Same issue here “Failed to update blocking policy of Family Wi-Fi group, please try again later.”
Devices part of the family group don’t have internet. If I pause or unpause the group, I get an error and it doesn’t help. The devices are still blocked. If I try to remove a device from the group, I get an error.
Should I reset to factory settings? Start a new “Home”?

Same issue here as well when I try yo pause Wifi access of any device.
12-12-2024 02:01 PM
Same! Just started today!!! Need a fix asap. Tried contacting support through chat and call. No reply. It says to try again during support hours when trying the call service 🤷🏻♀️
12-12-2024 02:15 PM
I am seeing the same issue today. Google, are you listening?
12-13-2024 07:52 PM
Crickets
12-12-2024 05:20 PM
What’s the point of the forums if Google Techs are not monitoring and noticing that no one (Customers) have found a solution?!
12-13-2024 07:52 PM
No kidding
12-12-2024 08:20 PM
Hello everyone. Its been a week with this problem and I couldn’t find the solution so I factory reseted google nest and it solved the problem.
12-12-2024 09:53 PM
I gave up and did the same today also. What a joke.
12-13-2024 07:20 AM
So did factory reset and it’s sorted it but what a pain to have to set everything back up - must be a better solution Google !!
12-13-2024 02:58 PM
Did anyone get a resolution on this?
12-13-2024 03:09 PM
Factory reset unfortunately
12-13-2024 04:01 PM
I gave up and did a factory reset and it did resolve the issue. Insane that no one from google could provide any help!
12-13-2024 06:17 PM
I chatted with Google support with no luck. I did send this link that many people are having the same issues. Finally, they said that it was an upgrade issue
12-13-2024 05:01 PM
Same here!! We’ve had this for years and never got this message until about a week ago on various devices. More and more devices are being affected now. So frustrating!!! Sounds like a factory reset is the only solution?!?!

I did all that and nothing,

Factory reset. Unfortunately you have to set up everything again. It’s a pain. Very surprising Google didn’t address this.

Response: This issue is not specific to Family Group. The issue is present when attempting to Pause individual devices. I did remove the Family Group completely and tried individual devices and still the same issue.

Only thing that worked was factory reset. You have a defect in your latest release.

Late to the party with tier one support “help”. Par for the course sadly. Way to go google.
factory reset took 90 minutes to get everything set back up again, crawling thru attic. Not sure how this hasn’t either been properly addressed or rolled back by now.

Still trying to set up everything. It was easy the first time but figuring out note if not easy.

I also tried your steps to create a new family group and I still receive the error. This seems to be a widespread issue that started happening this month. Please address with appropriate Google team and give us a fix asap.

I response to virnab:
Your proposed solution does NOT work. I deleted the previous family group, created a new one, and as soon as I tried to pause/unpause I got the same “failure to update” error message.
The most frustrating part is the app says to “try again in a few minutes” but it’s been going on for TWP WEEKS.
When I contacted suppprt they had me jump through a bunch of hoops (delete/reinstall the app, reset modem, reset google wifi device) etc and at the end of the call said “it’s a known issue and our engineering team is working on it but right now there is no resolution.”

Doesn’t work. Hire some coding folks and get the patch pushed out asap please!!
