Hello,
I haven't looked at my google wifi gear in at least 3 years and have some questions due to an upcoming move.
In my home my current setup is a Google Wifi Model AC-1304, and a mesh extender to help the wifi reach the back part of the home.
- Is the Model AC-1304 a modem/router or is it one or the other?
- Can this model handle up to 400 Mbps? I bought this at least 5 years ago and don't know how out dated it may be.
- If the new internet provider gives us a modem and router can we still use the mesh extender without the google wifi device?
Any help is appreciated, thank you!

Is the Model AC-1304 a modem/router or is it one or the other?
It's a router/firewall combination, it's not a modem. Your internet service provider provides the modem.
Can this model handle up to 400 Mbps? I bought this at least 5 years ago and don't know how out dated it may be.
Yes, the combined top speeds of its 2.4 and 5GHz bands is 1200Mbps.
If the new internet provider gives us a modem and router can we still use the mesh extender without the google wifi device?
Yes, but you'd need to change your extender to extend the Wifi network from the new router provided by your internet service provider, rather than extending your Google Wifi network, assuming that's what it's currently doing.
