Nest App asks to Re-Add Nest Connect

When trying to add my Nest x Yale Lock, it continually asks me to add a Nest Connect before proceeding, however I already have a Nest Connect on my app. It shows as active and connected to the wifi. I’ve removed the Nest Connect from the app and re-added it with no luck. I’ve also done a factory reset on the lock with no luck. Not sure how to get the setup to proceed past asking for a Nest Connect.

  • “Can’t connect to the lock”
  • “Something went wrong”

I have a Nest Connect as a product on my Nest app. I then try to add a Next x Yale lock, and the next screens says that I need to add a Nest Connect. This morning I removed the nest Connect, then tried to add the Nest x Yale lock, added the nest Connect again, and then tried adding the lock. I get the same request to add a connect, even though the app shows the connect added. . I’ve taken screenshots, but not sure how to upload them.

I am sorry to hear that you are having this issue with your Yale lock! If you haven't already, you can learn here how to factory reset your Yale lock, which may help to reset issues it may be having.

I have reset the lock multiple times without it changing the nest app continuing to ask for the Nest Connect to be added, however it is already added.

Hi Amgator,

 

Thanks for getting back to us. Let's further check this — could you try to factory reset your Nest Connect? Then, let me know how it goes?

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Hold down your Connect’s button until the light pulses blue (about 10 seconds) then it flashes yellow. Keep holding down the button until the light goes off.
  2. Wait for Connect’s light to turn blue pulsing, which means the reset is complete.
  3. Remove it from the Nest app, then re add it to your account. Then, add your lock.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have reset the Nest Connect about 5 times and removed it the app multiple times. Unfortunately getting the same result.

Hi there,

 

We appreciate your efforts here. Let’s dig deeper into this — you can also give these steps a try:

 

  1. Try plugging your Connect into a different outlet that’s about halfway between your lock and router.
  2. Check for sources of wireless interference. Thick walls, floors, appliances, furniture, and even other electronics on the same network can cause interference.
  3. If that doesn’t work, try again at additional outlets or locations in your home.
  4. Make sure Bluetooth is on. Turn Bluetooth off, then back on to refresh the connection.
  5. Restart your phone, turn it off for 1 to 2 minutes, then turn it on.
  6. Put the mobile device on airplane mode, then turn on Bluetooth and WiFi. 

Note: Make sure that moving Connect doesn’t break the connection with your lock.
