Nest Camera Battery Dies Even When Wired

Shelle

My wired camera keeps saying the battery is dead. I've had it for less than a year and it's been fine until a week ago. I did a factory reset last week and it was at 100% right after the reset but it's been plugged in since day 1. Why does it keep doing this? What's the point of having it wired if I have to keep messing with it. I checked the cord and the cord plug along with the outlet. All of those are good.

@Shelle

I hope this doesn't happen to ours. We've had a Google Nest Camera (Battery) for a year (through a Minnesota winter), plugged in with the optional 10-meter power cable, and Settings | Battery always shows "Plugged in" with an infinity symbol and in "Live" mode unless we unplug it, in which case the battery level is never below 77% and it goes into "Idle" mode.

Are you using the included 3-meter charging cord or the optional 5-meter or 10-meter charging cable?

If you've had it for less than a year, you could try contacting Google Nest Support for a replacement  under the 1-year warranty:

I have the 10 meter cord. I just did another factory reset and it didn't help. It still shows plugged in but 0%. See screenshot in link https://photos.app.goo.gl/kH49dGeXcwHaSkKv9

@Shelle

I can't explain that. Attached is a screen shot of how ours appears all the time when it is plugged in. "Battery usage" has always been set to "custom" and "Automatic battery saver" has always been grayed out and disabled since we installed it. As I mentioned above, we only see a battery percentage if we unplug it. Is your power cable plugged in with the cable feeding towards the FRONT of the camera?  If it is, I think either your camera or power cable is defective.

I decided to change out the cord just to make sure even though the cord seemed to work fine with the other camera. A new cord has fixed the problem and it now shows the infinity logo when installed.
